The Office of the Civil Service Commission announces that the schedule for the Civil Service Exam (CSE) Pen and Paper Test for next year has released the final schedule.
All interested applicants must take note of the detailed schedule and deadline of application for 2018 CSC Examinations both on Professional and Subprofessional level.

Application must be personally filed at the CSC Regional Office (CSCRO) in which the applicant may take the examinations.
Applications is done on a – First Come- First Served Basis. CSC said that the application may close earlier as scheduled than the deadline if the Regional or Field Offices have already reached the target number of applicants.

The Civil Service Commission is the agency that regulates recruitment to the civil service and provide assurance that Appointments are based upon fair and open competition. Promoting the Civil Service value of Honesty, Integrity, Objectivity, and Impartiality and hears complain under the Civil Service Code. The Commission is independent of Government and Civil Service.
The main objective of the commission is to conduct the Civil Service Eligibility – Paper and Pen Test (CSE-PPT), which aims to establish a Register of Eligibles. This serves as a venue for certification and appointment to first and second level positions in the government offices, except positions that involves practice of profession and are covered by special laws, shall be made, provided the eligible meet the qualification and other requirements of the positions.
What are the Types of Eligibility?
The Career Service Professional Eligibility is the second appropriate level qualified for both first and second level government positions that do not necessarily involve practice of profession and are not covered by other laws. Meanwhile, Sub Professional Eligibility is appropriate only for first level government positions that do not involve practice of profession and are not covered by any laws.
Who are qualified to take the Civil Service Eligibility Examination?

Filipino citizens, who are at least 18 years of age on the date of filing the examination
- He/She must be of good moral character and must not be convicted by final judgement

He/She must not have been dishonorably discharge from the military service or dismissed for cause from any civilian position in the government
What are the documents required for CSE Applicants?
Filled out CSC Application form (CS Form No. 100, revised 2015) legibly. (you may go to CSC office or download the application form
- 4 copies of Passport size ID picture with name tag (first name, middle initial, and last name, with signature above the printed name) You may advise photographer for the purpose of the photo.
- Original and photocopy of Valid ID
- NSO/PSA birth certificate in case valid ID presented does not contain the birth date of the applicant.
- Examination Fee Processing – P500
- For applicants with dual citizenship under RA 9225, original and photocopy of Certificate of Retention or Re-acquisition of Philippine Citizenship issued by BIR is required.
Who are Exempted to take the Civil Service Exam?
Bar examinee passers given by Supreme Court of the Philippines are automatically granted with Civil Service Eligibility.
Board exam passers given by the Professional Regulatory Commission are also automatically granted CSE eligibility under RA # 1080.
Honor graduates are also exempted since they are already eligible, granted with Honor Graduate Eligibility under PD 907.
What is the coverage of the CSE examination?
Professional Level
Covers the area of vocabulary, grammar and correct usage, paragraph organization, reading comprehension, analogy, logic, and numerical ability.
Sub Professional Level
Same coverage with Professional except that analogy and logic were replaced by spelling and clerical operations.
Examination pointers:
You should be familiar in general information on the Philippine Constitution, Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials (RA 6713), Peace, Human Rights Issues and Concepts, and Environmental Management.
Examinees are advised by the Commission to be at the examination center an hour before the test proper.
What is the Passing Grade for the Examinee?
An Examinee shall obtain 80% general average to pass the examination.
The official list of passers and related results for all regions will be available at their website within 41 days after the examination. CSC advises examinees to coordinate with their Reginal Office for other concerns like verification of examinee number and other related matters.
Take note that the application is on a first-come-first-served basis, so it is best to apply earlier before the deadline to avoid closure of slots upon reaching its quota.
There are two scheduled examination in a year, March and August, and since the deadline for the August 2017 schedule had been final, we will be coordinating with the CSC for the next examination schedule for 2018.
