Don’t you know that August 21, 2018 is not just a special holiday but is declared as a Regular Holiday?
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte signed Presidential Declaration number 556 declaring August 21, 2018 which falls on a Tuesday, as a regular holiday throughout the Philippines. This is in observance of Eid’l Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice.
Eid’l Adha is an Islamic Festival to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim (now Abraham) to follow the willingness of Ibrahim (also known as Abraham) to follow Allah’s (God) command to sacrifice his son Joseph.
The President consider Eid’l Adha as one of the most important holiday in Muslim Calendar. And, as per provision of Republic Act # 9849 which provides that Eid’l ADha shall be observed as a Regular Holiday.
This year, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos has recommended that August 21, 2018, be declared as Regular Holiday in observance of this very important Muslim Feast.

There are two (2) holidays which fall on the month of August. August 21 observe as a special holiday to commemorate Ninoy Aquino Day, which also happens that the Feast of Eid’l Adha falls on the same date, thereby declaring it as a regular holiday. and August 27 is declared as a regular holiday every year being celebrated as “National Heroes Day”.
