Kadaugan sa Mactan or the Victory in Mactan is celebrated every year on the 27th of April. The event is being commemorated with a re-enactment of the battle between the Spanish Ferdinand Magellan and Local Chieftain Datu Lapu-Lapu.
The highlight of the event is the selection of Rayna Bulakna, the Queen and the popular dance festival tagged as the Rampada or RamPa sa Karsada or street dancing.
This is the much-awaited event wherein local dance groups dancing to Latin beat and, are clad with colorful costumes ala-Rio de Janeiro Festival in Brazil. This is the Oponganons way of celebrating the greatness and showcasing the colorful heritage in the victory of Datu Lapu-Lapu over Magellan.
