Digitized PhilHealth ID: A Valid Government ID

There are two (2) types of PhilHealth ID, The Regular PhilHealth ID and the Digitized PhilHealth Insurance ID Card.

What is the difference?

• Regular PhilHealth ID

This is a paper issued ID by your PhilHealth office upon registration without corresponding fees. This can be used to facilitate faster processing on payments for hospital bills. The importance of ownership of this card is an easier access to PhilHealth basic services and in filing insurance claims from any public or private medical institution.

• Digitized PhilHealth Insurance ID Card

A digitized Identification Card issued by PhilHealth to all registered members. It is a regular member’s option to apply for this type of ID. This card is optional and application for this type of ID cost some fees.

However, owning this type of ID has numerous benefits. Primarily this can be used as a valid ID in all banking and government transactions. Aside from hospital discounts, PhilHealth members with this type of ID card can get perks from PhilHealth Partner-Members like discounts for generic drugs on affiliated pharmacy’s and other medical services.

Dependents have also an option to get this type of ID card and they may use it in buying medicine with discounts in affiliated pharmacy.

How to get the PhilHealth digitized ID card?

If you are already a PhilHealth member with your PhilHealth (regular) ID and MDR (Member Data Record), you need the following to avail of the PhilHealth Insurance Card.

a.) Download PhilHealth’s Membership Registration Form (PMRF) from their website.

b.) Submit PMRF to the nearest PhilHealth Local Health Insurance Office (LHIO) together with the following documents:

• Two (2) 1 x 1 ID picture
• Photocopy of 2 valid ID
• Photocopy of Official receipts of premium payments to PhilHelath
• Two (2) valid ID’s of your dependent (if you want to include them)

c.) If there are applicable dependents declared them to apply for maximum benefit.

How much a digitized PhilHealth Insurance ID cost?

Payments for ID:

• P90.00 – for Member
• P358.00 – additional payment should you include your dependent

Spending an extra amount to get a digitized PhilHealth Insurance ID could be beneficial to all members together with dependents. Both could enjoy full access to PhilHealth  basic services and perks that regular card holders don’t have access. 

Ownership of the card is most useful to members who have maintenance medication since they can cut down the cost of medicine if they buy it from among the accredited pharmacy and enjoy services from accredited medical laboratories.
