What is a 13th Month Pay?
Under Presidential Decree 851 the following provisions shall be observed
- 13th month pay shall be given to all rank-and-file employees regardless of the nature of employment and irrespective of the methods by which wages are paid, and provided they worked for at least one (1) month during the calendar year is entitled to a 13th month pay.
- The 13th month pay shall be given to employees not later than December 24 of every year.
- It shall not be less than one-twelfth of the basic salary earned by an employee in a calendar year.
- Resigned or separated, terminated employees are also entitled to 13th month pay.
How much is your 13th month pay?
The computation for 13th month pay is derived by adding the total number of basic salary earned for the year and divided by twelve (12).
Sample computation of 13th month pay
The table presented here is the sample computation of your 13th month pay. Please take notice of paid and unpaid leave as well as late or tardiness/absences. Your actual earnings monthly from January of the year to December will be added to get the sum or the Total Basic Pay for the year, which will be divided by twelve. The result of which is your proportionate 13th Month-Pay.
