Chistmas is Everywhere!!!
Giant Christmas trees, Santa Claus, Lanterns and multi colored Christmas lights dancing to the jolly tune of the Christmas Alphabet. Feel the cold mist of the night and experience that wonderful and joyous feeling of the season.
If Cordova has the 10,000 white roses, then for sure you’ll be equally amazed upon seeing the multi colored daisies made up of recycled materials from engine filters by no less than our drug surenderees.
PASKO SA PAJO!
Yes!!! As you enter into the vicinity of Barangay Pajo of Lapulapu City, from Mactan Mandaue bridge you can feel the spirit of Christmas as a giant Santa Claus would greet you in site. Lined up are reindeers in sleigh, giant candles and other Christmas icons along the island of M. V. Patalinghug Avenue. Multi colored Christmas lights flashes with matching Christmas carols played in the speakers set up along the island garden.
A site to behold is a huge Christmas gift and a giant pajo, a variety of mango where the barangay got its name. Followed by daisies in different hues of colors, clustered in colors of green to sooth your tired eyes, blue daisies radiate a calming effect, yellow daisies for warmth, white daisies for purity, orange for strength and colors of maroon which spices up the total effect.
Christmas decors from recycled materials
All of these are made of recycled materials, straws, engine filters, fuel hose, etcetera with LED bulb for light. Crafted with love and made possible with the concerted efforts of the Pajo barangay council under the able leadership of its Chairman Mr. Junard “Ahong” Chan and the once drug dependent citizens of the barangay.
Barangay Pajo Drug Surenderees Livelihood program
The barangay had encouraged reform programs by making these once drug personalities undergo seminars and livelihood training program to help them live back a normal life.
Have you seen people selling empanada and other “kakanins” along the intersection before reaching the Mandaue Mactan Bridge? The barangay has been instrumental in their newfound job, in giving them the chance to learn the trade and giving them the opportunity to live a normal and drug free life with their families.
A Place to chill your night away
The barangay through its project coordinator Fernando “Nanding” Anore is also instrumental in setting up LOKLOK sa Pajo. A venue for Pajonians to promote their products and services. Loklok sa Pajo is located some meters from the Sangi-Petron intersection fronting MORE Pub. You may check the place specially during night time since foods like barbecue, siomai, sinugba (Inihaw), and some specialties can be bought. You may also dine in groups and listen to the Accoustic Band.
And because Christmas is here, forget the worries of life and flashed on that contagious smile and think positive. And as Jose Mari Chan’s popular christmas ballad – Why not GIVE LOVE ON CHRISTMAS DAY!?
